"Hallujah Suite" is a limited edition book of
24 lithographs illustrating the 150th Psalm. Drawn just before his death,
these prints make up Ben Shahn's last completed work. There are 240 numbered
editions, plus 10 proofs.
The book includes an introduction by his wife, Bernarda
Bryson Shahn, which discusses Ben Shahn's revitalized
interest in religious themes in the artist's latter years, and also a
letter by Fernand Mourlot, his life-long friend and publisher of Shahn's
prints commenting on the artists love of printmaking.
Unfortunately, although Shahn approved the edition for
publication prior to his death, he passed away before he could sign the edition.
Nevertheless, in accordance with the artist's intentions, the book was published
posthumously and is available from us complete with slipcase @$1,200, plus
insured shipping and secure packing from Pittsburgh, PA. Each "Hallelujah
Suite" is individually numbered (117/240 etc.) and measures 18''x18 1/2".
