Born:
Havana, Cuba on October 8, 1943
Electrically charged and visually abstract, the surface of a
Lia Galletti painting pulsates as it draws the viewer into the composition.
Stylistically Galletti can be linked to Abstract Expressionism and the Action
Painting School of New York. Her schedule of exhibits in the United States
has nearly doubled and includes shows in Miami, Washington D.C. and Boston.
She has also exhibited her work internationally in San Juan, Canada, Spain
and Israel.
Lia Galletti left her native Cuba in 1960 and came to New York.
Galletti has achieved a degree of mastery in abstraction like no other Cuban
painter has since the pioneering abstraction of the Los Once group made its
way onto the Havana art scene briefly in the 1950's.
